Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, the student and I began working on his most recent assignment. Since this homework involved reading from a file, we spoke about how to use the fstream library to do just that. It also involved the use of structs (which we learned about during our last session) and arrays. He implemented a search algorithm to be able to search through the array for a particular name. It worked great. I told him that it would be a good idea if he keeps on working on the code (without me) and then approach me with the questions or issues that he has come up with. That way, he'll get the most out of the tutoring."
"Today we did a speedy review of data types (int, double, char). discussed Boolean data types, Boolean operators, logic operators, and branching statements (if-else / switch). We plan to start reviewing some of the student's homework assignments next week to prep for the new semester."
"Tonight, we were able to create a correctly functioning calculator. Now that we have basic functionality, we are working to incorporate a "running tape" at the top of the display, showing values and operators as they are entered and a memory function. The student is demonstrating a continuously-growing sense of the art of programming."
