She progressed impressively with these problems and got much better at estimating the products of multiplication problems. For the second session, we reviewed two problems from each of the topics we had covered throughout our sessions. We focused on multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting mixed number fractions and regular fractions as well as order of operations and solving problems for x.

During this session we spent a majority of the time reviewing matrices. We first went over basic properties and definitions of matrices. Afterwards, we explored addition, subtraction and multiplication of matrices. In order to address division, we learned the method of matrix inversion for 2x2 and 3x3 matrices. We then employed matrix methods to solve systems of two and three equations. Finally, we reviewed geometric coordinate systems, some elementary aspects of vectors, and we looked at applications of matrix methods to deal with them.
