Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We have covered topics including quantum mechanics, electron configuration, and energy level diagram. We went through review problems. The student has an exam coming next week. The student had a solid understanding of material. He was very eager to learn. We have done a few practice problems. The student had enough practice problems to work on. The session was a win session because we were able to do lots of practice problems."
"The student and I continued where we left off on Thursday by continuing to work through a variety of sound and wave problems together in preparation for her exam this upcoming Monday. She provided a couple of problems from her textbook, and we both made sure to read the questions several times in order to figure out what they were really asking- something that gets harder the further along you go with Physics! She was quick to ask any questions that she had and to pick my brain with conceptual questions about the nature of sound waves and standing waves - hopefully my answers were satisfying enough! She told me that she did well on her last quiz, and as long as she takes the time to set up each problem in the way that we did together, I have no doubt that she will do excellently on her test."
"The student and I reviewed for her upcoming exam. We discussed some metal and nonmetal activities covered in her lab. We spent most of the time to learn drawing Lewis structures and determining their VSEPR shape, including calculating valence electrons, positioning the atoms, assigning electrons, checking octet, calculating formal charge, determining the final structure and its resonance, polarity, and number of bonded and lone pairs of electrons. We worked on several examples to ensure that she understood. Overall, she did well, but since these materials are still new to her, she would need to practice more over the weekend."
"The student and I had a great session. We covered a lot of chemistry topics, such as molecular bonding orbitals, limiting reagents, dilutions, and thermodynamics. We covered over 15 different questions in total. She seems to feel much better about the subject, and she felt much better about the topics we talked about. She will be reaching out to me after the Thanksgiving break in order to schedule sessions to help her study for finals."
"We did some revision problems to help the student prepare for his test tomorrow. We worked on problems involving Newton's Laws, centripetal motion and universal gravitation. The student was able to complete most problems independently except in a few areas where he needed a pointer or two. He seemed well prepared for the test."
"The student and I discussed both chemistry and biology today. We covered DNA replication. Specifically, we discussed all of the important components of DNA replication (i.e., DNA polymerase, nucleotides, RNA primase, DNA helicase, etc.). Furthermore, we discussed topics in chemistry. Specifically, we reviewed topics in reduction and oxidation reactions. We also briefly discussed the Gas Laws."
