Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered p.110-180 in the logic games book. What we did not finish was assigned for homework."
"This was the final session. Advanced games were covered, with extra emphasis on taking advantage of limited options. The student was urged to extract deductions before launching into the specific problems."
"We discussed hybrid games and how to approach them, specifically covering the 2-sketch method and identification of game types within the hybrid. We practiced these skills using a "2-sequencing" hybrid game. I left the student with a few more simple hybrid games to work on for our next session. In the second hour, we continued working on logical reasoning skills. She is getting stronger at eliminating incorrect answers. It was a good session."
"Tonight we worked our way through a practice test that the student completed. She progressing towards her goal. We worked through the puzzles and went through some ways to improve her diagrams. We practiced working on the easier questions first and then working through the difficult questions last. We then worked through several other puzzles. She is comfortable with the contrapositive and seems to have a good handle on single line games. Now she just has to practice to improve her speed and to see more types of puzzles. Little by little, the better scores will come. She just has to focus on consistently practicing with time limits and then reviewing her work. Great job so far!"
"We began working on the first unit of Reading Comp, focusing on reading for the structure of the argument rather than for information -- Why did the author write this? What does he want to convince readers of? How is she supporting the claim she is making?"
"We completed the logical reasoning review guide and discussed point at issue and principle questions. We reviewed a number of problems from the text, as well as a number of problems from an additional resource. Her homework is to complete additional practice problems, review the end of chapter summaries, and take the LR sections of the prep test untimed."
