Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I finished a practice test and completed more flashcards. This is our last session before the SAT, so she should focus on looking over more vocab flashcards to help her."
"Initial session, so we covered what the student wanted to work on during the course of our tutoring and discussed what she thought her strengths and weaknesses were. She thought she was strong in math and writing and wanted work in critical reading and grammar. She wanted to focus primarily on the critical reading section to start; I began with how to proceed through each individual part of the section. For the vocabulary identification part, we went through how to break down sentence structure and make inferences. We proceeded into passages and how to identify arguments being made, where the author transitions into different points, and how to determine the main idea of the text. I instructed her to continue working on these aspects and to also work on the grammar for next session."
"During the initial meeting with the student, I covered basic essay writing techniques, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and stressed elaboration when it came to her examples. We also went over basic mathematical concepts involving algebra and geometry, and converting word problems to symbols in order to better understand and solve them. We also went over a few problems that involved probability and covered all of the difficulties she had encountered on the first practice test that she had taken from the text."
