Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Although the student's math class has already finished their final exams, she is still being given more assignments and new material and a bit of review. Today she had an assignment on simplifying radical expressions which is something that we have briefly covered previously in the course. It took her only a minute to remember how to simplify radicals and she breezed through the assignment."
"We talked about graphs, asymptotes, discontinuity, domain, range, and characteristics of polynomial graphs. The student has informed me that she'd like to take her assessment soon. Accordingly, we will meet twice next week to do one last sweep of material before her test."
"The student has a test tomorrow regarding use of the tangent function to get information about triangles. He seems to understand its use very well, although I told him to set up the triangle and use algebra to find missing angle/side measures instead of relying on specific formulas - those are harder to remember. We spent the first part of tonight's session looking over his most recent test. He did very well. He's not entirely comfortable giving rigorous explanations for his answers yet, but that's normal for a geometry student."
"The student has several packets of Algebra 2 work that she needs to complete. We were able to work through 4 pages this session. Three and a half were on piecewise functions, and the other half was on transformations of a parabolic equation."
"The student and I covered Quadratics from factoring to graphing using the worksheet given to him from school. The student has a quiz coming up on Friday on quadratics thus we spent the entire session practicing possible problems for his quiz. He didn't seem to struggle with any problem, nevertheless I left him with some extra practice problems to ensure he gets enough practice before the quiz. All in all, it was a good session."
"The student did great on her homework today! It was a fun puzzle with math problems that needed factoring and simplifying. She overall understands the process and concepts."
