We covered nomenclature and sp hybridization of organic molecules today. We also went over the most common functional groups and their properties. I asked the student to go through the organic chemistry practice problems in his study guide, and I will go through the questions with him next week. I will prepare some practice nomenclature problems for him. We also completed the first practice test in the study book together.

Today we worked on thermochemistry in review for his test. He seemed to understand heat capacity well, and with a little review was able to design calorimetry experiments. We also reviewed enthalpy changes and energy diagrams. He is doing much better now, and seemed to be well prepared for this test.
