Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed waves and simple harmonic motion. Showed how to apply calculus and previous material to understanding the newer material. Student needs to remember that previous material still applies to current material. There is no fundamental difference between many physical concepts. Will be having a quiz soon."
"We covered a lot of organic chemistry today. She was really engaged and knew what to do to improve her skills. She is motivated and can follow what I teach her. She knows to practice to get better, which is a big asset for a student. We plan to go over more organic next week if she needs it, but she does seem to want some help in acid-base chapters, so we'll likely go into that next time."
"We covered circuits and electrostatics for her upcoming physics test. Hopefully we can meet one additional time before she takes the test."
"Today, we looked at kinetics. We looked at them in rather formal detail because this helped her understand how we use ratios of experimental rates to find exponential relationships. Fortunately, we will be able to continue from here without some of the technological hang-ups we had over the past few sessions."
"Today, we reviewed periodic trends and discussed them in greater depth based on feedback received in class. We also covered electron configurations, specifically how one can use the periodic table as a mnemonic."
"Today, we spent some time discussing the percent ionized of a compound at a given pH when given the pKa. We also spent time practicing naming heterocyclic compounds. The student has greatly improved in naming since last week."
