Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through more reading problems on the VT platform. Tomorrow we will continue to work on reading."
" We started off discussing overall basic preparation, including the need to get accustomed to pencils and the need to look at the test as a skill that requires practice and time. We also talked about a general time frame for preparation and practice over the next three months, including the need to start paying attention to time limits in the near future. We spent most of the session reviewing formal logic, which is an important tool to use all over the LSAT, especially in the logic games section and logic reasoning. At the end, we reviewed the types of questions in the logic reasoning section and focused on assumption-related questions and the need to identify conclusions and evidence in the arguments. She demonstrated a pretty good understanding of formal logic and she has successfully started to identify the common types of questions in logic reasoning. She should continue to build these skills."
"The student is in the process of finalizing her admissions essay for law school applications, so that's again what we worked on today. The version we were working from was about 2 1/2 pages single spaced -- we needed to get it to 2-3 pages double spaced. We were able to cut out much of the wordiness in the essay and to focus on themes that were relevant and important to her intended themes. She still needs to work on the essay content by adding an important story to tie it together and to explain her initiative to attend law school, but I'm confident she has the tools to do it. Her confidence and determination have been inspiring, and I know she'll succeed at whatever goals she sets."
