Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a large math project to complete which required both math skills to create and solve problems, and writing skills to describe the project design for a school project. This was a great opportunity for her to review the math topics she had covered throughout the year. She did a great job on the math problems. We plan to practice the presentation portion at her tutoring session tomorrow"
"We covered Algebra. The student's attitude was excellent. I left the her with a practice exam. She has made such great progress in math. She is getting more and more comfortable with the different concepts."
"The student and I spent the session completing her study review guide for her final. We finished the last two pages of questions and then began to go through her old tests and chapters of her book in order to help her complete her bullet-point note cards for each chapter containing key facts, definitions, and equations. She noted that she still needed help with remembering and applying the vertex form of quadratic equations, so we will make a point to review those concepts in more depth on Thursday before her test."
"We worked on her math review packet. The packet consisted of a little bit of everything. We worked on fractions, mixed fractions, proportions, distributive property, decimals (multiplying and dividing), positive and negative numbers (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing), percentage and probability. The student knows the material, she just needs a review to refresh her memory."
"We covered functions in this session and I think the student is pretty comfortable with this material now so we will move on to the next topic in the next session as a part of our review for his exam on Monday."
"We worked on the seventh grade mathematics state assessment exam. We covered 21 questions from the test in timed format. The student is having some trouble approaching and setting up word problems. He also needed help some in the geometry portion of the exam. We are still working on writing the formula, plugging in, and solving equations. I asked him to work on the writing section in the previous year's exam. I asked him to complete questions 1-11 and review the math section from this session."
