Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was a longer session with the student focusing entirely on chapter 26 and his quiz on Thursday. We reviewed half of the hw problems targeting chapter 26, specifically the material on fields due to wires, magnetic dipoles, and Ampere's law. We also developed a study guide to help him prepare for exams."
"We finished the student's review test which was on thermodynamics. We worked through the problems and we are going to meet before his exam to do a final review."
"We went through the student's homework for algebra first. It was about probabilities, permutations and combination. He knew them and I checked to make sure he is doing them right. Then we went through his chemistry homework. It was about acid and base. We covered different properties on them and solved several questions for acid, base, conjugate base and conjugate acid. He is doing well."
"We went over specific questions concerning pentose phosphate pathway, the cori cycle and the aerobic oxidative phosphorylation in order to prep for the exam. I assigned her to go over the practice exams so we could discuss the problems that she didn't understand."
"The student has a test on plants today, so yesterday we focused on reviewing relevant material for the test using a PowerPoint provided by his teacher on the hub as a guide. We spent the majority of time discerning the differences between the three different types of plant tissue- vascular tissue, ground tissue, and dermal tissue. We also reviewed the different types of plants-bryophytes, sporophytes, gymnosperms, and angiosperms."
"We covered alkyne chemistry, especially as it related to the quiz rewrite and retroactive synthesis problems. We discussed how to approach synthesis problems as they related to the quiz rewrite. We went over radial chemistry and mechanisms. We discussed radical stability, resonance, and hybridization. We also discussed the difference between regiochemistry and stereochemistry. We then discussed the mechanism for hydroboration of alkenes. The student told me she implemented the study strategies I discussed with her in the last session and that they were helpful to her study. She again showed a good foundation of knowledge."
