Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started the session by doing a quick review of the most recent class test. The student also has an upcoming test on parametric equations, so we focused on reviewing how to graph and use parametric equations. We worked on how to translate back and forth between the parametrized and x/y forms of equations, as well as on graphing and recognizing features of these equations. Finally, we worked on using parametric equations in the context of work problems, particularly those involving projectile motion. At the end of the session, we talked about study strategies for the upcoming test."
"Today we were studying for his chapter 6.3-6.5 quiz. It was on vectors and complex numbers. So we went over basic vector rules, dot products, angles between vectors, and then the trig forms of complex numbers. This quiz he is allowed a cheat sheet, so all the vector operations he should get 100%, they are plug and chug on formulas he has written down. We did a bunch of practice problems and used the formula sheet for practice. The trig complex number form was a bit trickier. There are a lot of steps, which leaves a bunch of room for error. We did practice problems from that section, and before I left we set aside a group of problems for him to go over by himself before his quiz."
"We covered equations and graphs of parabolas and ellipses. The student seemed to struggle most initially trying to remember what each part of the equation meant and what needed to be known to come up with the equation. However, once she reviewed those concepts, she had no trouble doing the work and solving the problems. She seems very bright and I am sure she will be successful with this subject."
"We went over the student's review sheet that her teacher gave her for the final tomorrow. The sheet mainly focused on using various trigonometric identities. She seemed to work the problems pretty well; she just needed a little bit of a push in the right direction occasionally."
"I prepared the student for her exam on exponential and logarithmic functions. We also reviewed inverse functions as well as simplified complex rational expressions. She is well prepared to excel on her test."
"We worked on the student's online portion of her class. We worked on problems, specifically quadratic function questions and a set of logarithmic questions."
