Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered vocabulary related to the family, reviewed all the material we previously did, and did French adjectives. I gave her homework on adjectives for the next session."
"Today the student and I finished up the chapter on pronominal verbs that we started yesterday. We went back and reviewed some of the areas we discussed before the student's break and then focused on the different idiomatic phrases with avoir and etre. Then we started working on the passe compose. We got about half way through the chapter. For homework, she is going to finish that chapter as well as chapter 3, which focuses on the differences between savoir and connaitre and vouloir vs. pouvoir. She wants to be tested each week on what we have covered so for this coming week she will study common reflexive verbs, irregular past participles, phrases using avoir and I will give her a quiz when we meet next Friday. I'm very impressed with her motivation and it's very helpful for me that she is clearly communicating the kinds of things that she wants to be working on and how she would like to have our curriculum structured."
"The student had a couple of really tricky listening assignments this time. I can tell that his ear is getting better: He can recognize some words that he hears in fluent French sentences. He still needs me to repeat the sentences more slowly so that he can distinguish the rest of the words."
