Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I met for our second session of ACT tutoring. I first looked over some homework I had assigned, which included math and writing an outline for the essay section. We then went over all four sections of the test. She did well in English, but struggled a bit in reading. She was spending too long reading the passages, and thus was making mistakes when she hurried through the questions. I worked with her timing by keeping track of how long she took to read the passage, and then telling her when she should move on to the questions. This helped her performance a lot and she showed immediate improvement. I think with enough work, she can do very well on the test."
"The student's score on the reading section showed another huge improvement of five points over the last practice exam she took. We dove into an English practice session. We talked through the questions and went over some additional test-taking strategies. Now that she seems to have a better handle on time management, I would like her to take another full practice exam so we have another score report to work from. I also assigned the same essay prompts to work on."
"Final session - we mostly reviewed math concepts, trigonometry, plane and coordinate geometry. Also, we worked on comma usage and other mechanical issues in the English section. We finished with another quick review of the essay, including the time constraints."
