Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student studied linearization, took a derivative test, answered economics questions, and did practice problems from exams and quizzes."
"Reviewed continuity using limits and Intermediate Value Theorem to find roots of equations. Briefly reviewed finding tangent and secant lines to define derivation. Student has midterm Monday."
"Discussed paradigm equation of finding the derivative using limits and applied that to evaluating particular derivatives in order to help the student complete a worksheet assignment."
"Yesterday, we continued working on problems that the student will eventually encounter this year in 5th grade math. We were working on adding/ subtracting decimals and also multiplying/ dividing multi-digit numbers. He is doing a great job! I keep him motivated with this little card game, stop the bus, and it is working well."
"I covered topics from a pre-algebra course. The topics include basic concept and application of linear equation by graphing, distributive property, and systems of equations. The student was very much involved in the tutoring session. I gave her some practice problems about linear equation by graphing, distributive property of equations, and systems of equation by substitution for review."
"The student and I covered algebra 1 topics from his quizzes: graphing and solving linear equations, parallel and perpendicular lines, given two points on a graph, find the slope of the line, find the equation of a line, given the Y-intercept on the graph and a point on the line, find the equation of the line, slope intercept form, find the Y-intercepts on the graph, and finding the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. The student cooperated very well and had a positive attitude toward the material. The student struggles with the positive and negative signs when adding, subtracting, multiplying expressions and when solving equations, and basic algebra skills. But, as the session progressed, he seemed to understand better. I tried to show him different methods to solving problems so that he can choose a method that is he is most comfortable with whenever possible."
