Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We studied some of the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, learned about economic competition, and read about the Pueblo people."
"Prior to our session, the student sent me his schedule in History for the week, and I had given him a test-prep strategy to work on. I told him to have the study guide out while he read and while he listened to lectures in class. Whenever he saw a term, concept, or idea from the study guide mentioned, he should mark the particular section it comes from on the study guide. That when it gets closer to test time he can reference those specific sections quickly without having to comb back through all the material. I'm confident that this will help him on the next test. We spent our in-session time going through the first of the two study guides (Chapter 36) employing the same strategy that we used last time and adding the new step mentioned above. He is doing a better job identifying key terms while he reads and listens in class and this is allowing him to be more prepared. I'm anxious to see how the test on Chapters 34 & 35 turned out so we can get some feedback for the things we're putting into place."
"The student worked on a rough draft assignment comparing Athens to Han China for his history course. We spoke at length about how to approach the assignment and then went through the various documents that he is analyzing for the assignment. He wrote down a large chunk of material for the rough draft and will work on finishing this before our next session."
