Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on a few more sections of the review sheets, spending most of our time on logarithms and powers, as well as some word problems with inequalities. The student had the most trouble with the inequalities, as he kept forgetting how to set up some of the problems, so we will definitely review that tomorrow. We had to work the most conceptually on logarithms but after several problems and a few examples he began to understand how to manipulate them properly. We will finish logarithms tomorrow and start reviewing exponents."
"The student and I worked on a homework assignment on ratios and proportions. He is doing well at setting up and solving proportions. We also went over test corrections for his recent unit test on equations, addressing misconceptions and gaps in understanding."
"The student and I worked on a review of 10 homework problems using his new colored pencils. He completed two multiplication worksheets with coloring involved and did well. We also reviewed his spelling words for the test tomorrow. His focus was better."
"The student and I worked on a review of her challenge problems and were able to finish them. We discussed her writing problem, found an answer, and discussed how she should go about explaining what we did to find the answer. Then we started on the next chapter. I told her to write up her answer for submitting, and we will go over it next time to make sure it sounds good. Then we will continue on our new chapter."
"The student and I worked on a review of math homework. She got a B on her last test! She is more confident and asking more questions in school too. We reviewed some of her previous work, and looked ahead to what's coming."
"The student and I worked on a review of various functions, putting them in standard form, describing translation from the parent function, describing a function as even or odd, and various other topics. He has a test tomorrow, and I gave him some strategies on how to take the test successfully. He seemed to understand the material when we went over it together."
