Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we completed the student's homework on graphing functions and determining roots of polynomial functions. Then, we worked on his assignment on synthetic and long division. Luckily, the student had familiarity with these subjects from his previous math courses."
"Today, we covered the classes of logical statements that will help in classification and similarity questions. We also looked into problems involving graphs and velocity of "work done" or "tub water filled" or "distance covered against the current" type problems. The student is confident and making progress in solving all these types of problems, and will start producing flashcards systematically."
"Today, we reviewed his notes and homework on polynomials, including long division, synthetic division, zeros, factoring, and multiplicity. He informed me of his test date next week, and we talked about the topics that will be on his test."
"Today's discussion centered around limits and discontinuity. Specifically, the student was looking for help with understanding and memorizing the differences between the different forms of discontinuity, so I explained each type both graphically and algebraically. After we finished her short homework assignment, I found and made up some more examples to explore those different situations."
"Today's session essentially told me where he is on his Trig. We went over a section that he'll cover tomorrow in class and will also contact me if he has any questions with the homework. On Wednesday, I'll bring more aids to help with his current chapter."
"Today's session was on optimization and graphing/properties of rational functions. I showed the student a calculus related technique for solving a minimization/maximization problem. I also, reminded her to make use of graphing applications in order to check if her solution was on track or correct. She had a little less than half of a worksheet that she got from her teacher, and which I suggested she continue working on at home or simply later on."
