Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is doing great in Geometry! Her test scores are up and her confidence is soaring. Tonight, we covered perpendicular lines and slopes. Her class will be covering these concepts soon. Next week we will see how much she understands, given that we went over this before her teacher lectures on it."
"The student is doing SO great, her improvement is just fun to see. She feels more comfortable with math by the day. Today we did quiz prep, and we covered: square, rectangle, triangle, and circle area. Her mental math skills remain good, and she has a great sense of logic, but visualization is very hard for her, which is so important in geometry, so I can see why she's having trouble. In spite of this, she's SO good about keeping her head in the game, making herself focus even though she doesn't want to! It's a very admirable quality. We also covered coordinate planes, coordinate pairs, the midpoint formula, the distance formula, and transformations: rotation, reflection, translation. She did great, I hope she does well on her quiz!"
"The student is now in Algebra II. She has a quiz today and a test on Thursday covering Algebra 1 concepts. We did many problems centered on solving linear equations. The student has a good grasp of the basic game plan of isolating variables. She struggles when fractions are involved. We spent some time yesterday reviewing how to add/subtract and multiply/divide fractions."
"The student is preparing himself for the SAT and right now he is trying to remind everything in regards to Geometry. So we talked about basics in Geometry like Pythagorean, definition of Sin, Cos, and their relation. We have solved some sample problem at the end of the session."
"The student is studying for an exam on Chapter 2: Reasoning and Proof, so we spent the session reviewing problems and concepts. We reviewed conditional statements including converse, inverse, contrapositive and biconditional. We also reviewed properties of equality and congruence. Finally, we worked on basic proofs involving segments and angles. She is much more confident in this chapter than the previous one."
"The student is studying for an upcoming Pre-Calculus test next Wednesday on exponential and logarithmic properties and equations. We covered the material from chapter 3.1-3.4 today, focusing on logarithmic properties, condensing and expanding logarithms. He focused well and definitely learned a lot of material today."
