Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student practiced his multiplication skills with the multiplication target wheels worksheet that covered the 7s and 8s. Then, I had him practice identifying different shapes by their features such as; angles and sides. I also introduced the different types of triangles. He also worked on his reading comprehension by reading a short story and answering questions."
"Today we worked on the student's math homework. He is doing capacity conversions and did really well with the material. He worked on his vocab words. We then spent the rest of the session working on his geography for his test tomorrow. He now has it all memorized and is ready to go. I also gave him a few more capacity conversion problems to work on. He did really well with them even the challenging ones that made him do several conversions."
"Today I reviewed Spanish pronouns and the verb "to be" with the student. I want her to master it before we move on because it is so critical to forming most Spanish sentences. I wrote a short pronoun-verb matching quiz to help her practice on her own later. We also reviewed geography in anticipation of her next quiz on the western states. This material seems to come easily to her, and I expect that she will do very well on her quiz. I look forward to reviewing the westward expansion when she begins studying the Civil War next week."
"Today I helped the student begin setting up his new mac laptop. His Toshiba, the computer which the student and I had been using to date had crashed with no possibility of recovery, so he needed help getting his new system. I gave him a thorough review of the operating system and how to set up his emails and preferences. I then reminded him of how to access apps through the app store, and downloaded a few essential programs with him. I also helped him unlock his email account which he had lost access to over the weekend. Lastly, I helped him with his surface, and will continue to help him get equally set up on all three of his computers so he can have a seamless workflow."
"Today, the student and I reviewed some basics with her tablet, like how to access email, make sure she is logged in, basic word processing in Pages, setting up and using a social media account, and updating her tablet and apps. Before our next session, she will review and archive her e-mails, update her tablet, and practice closing apps and using social media and Pages. I will look up how to make sure her tablet is backed up on the cloud so that she doesn't lose any information that she's stored."
"We covered computer skills: social media, apps, how to bookmark & practice, emailing, virtual reality. I gave the student materials and links for further research and a study overview of all topics discussed thus far."
