"We covered class structure, programming with Java, reading from another class, and the scanner scan function. The student had an excitement to learn the material and definitely wants to meet more."
"I was able to fill in some shortcomings in the student's knowledge of Java. I discovered that he had a hard time differentiating between comparisons and assignment statements, so we talked about that difference. Assignments still seem to give him a little bit of trouble. We talked about two-dimensional arrays, and we talked at the end about the more object-oriented concepts. We still have a lot of ground to cover, but I feel like today's session was very productive."
"Today we went over a couple of questions in the student's prep book, and I answered her questions on the topics they covered. We then went online and looked for more practice multiple choice questions and went through several together. The student wanted more practice with recursion, so I looked up questions online and gave them to her so that she could trace through them. She seemed to improve after doing these. After this, I gave her a couple of practice questions dealing with inheritance and polymorphism. She solved these questions without too many problems. We ended with a run-through where we talked about insertion, selection, bubble, merge, and quicksort, discussing how these sorts work and how efficient they are."
