Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For our second session, we covered a lot of content. We started with months, days of the week, weather, seasons, articles, family, pronouns, identifiers, emergency scenarios, and useful phrases. I sent the students the PowerPoint to review. They are progressing very quickly."
"The student and I worked on his review packet for his final, and I wrote out a brief study guide of important grammatical concepts."
"We continued to discuss vocabulary related to the student's work. We also discussed more conversational expressions and reviewed pronunciation."
"We reviewed dates, hay/no hay, and practiced tambien/tampoco. The student's new vocabulary is enfermero/a, telescopio, computadora, microscopio, jardin, pizarron, dibujar, pintar, adem s, and instrumentos (cello, bajo, guitarra, saxofon, raton/ratones). We also reviewed parts of the house (sala, comedor, cocina, biblioteca, pacillo, jardin). We reviewed vocab, too: escaleras, tapete/s, la television (intro to gender of nouns), el interfon, horno de microondas, horno, estufa, cafetera, banco, ventana/s, mesa/s. We worked on reading comprehension with "Un Colegio de Artistas." We also did a review of conjugation of present of verbs ending in -ar. The student has a pretty good understanding. We worked on eliminating the confusion between cocina and concina."
"We reviewed everything covered to date, and I introduced clothing and feelings of emotion. I also introduced opposites: big, small, rich/poor. The student understands concepts of masculine/feminine and plural, and we practiced that as well."
"We reviewed everything from last week. We practiced using body parts and colors vocabulary and taught some fruits using his cards and my props. He really stayed engaged in this, which is great. I wanted to teach a lot more body parts but he was so much more interested in the fruit, which is fine. I work at his pace and with his interests. That way it sticks, and he still enjoys learning"
