Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Concepts Covered: The student and I covered rules of exponents, simplification, and went over various problems from her practice test. Strategies: We went over PEMDAS and the tiers of rules, including the importance of parentheses - especially when dealing with negatives. Additionally, we reviewed the process of simplification for a variable. Extra Practice: None beyond assigned homework."
"Today we covered calculating areas using the trapezoidal rule and indefinite integration by substitution. I left him home work assignment based on the concepts covered in order to reinforce the concepts."
"Today we worked on several worksheets that I brought. First we worked on understanding slope. We practiced finding the slope of a line from looking at a graph and also how to write the equation of a line by looking at its slope and y-intercept. We then worked on solving some simple algebraic equations, first with just one variable and then we progressed on to more difficult systems of equations with multiple variables. The student did very well with just some refreshing on techniques and concepts. I will continue to bring worksheets that challenge her including more graphing and more complex algebra."
"We covered several topics from the student's exam from two weeks ago. His final is tomorrow and he seems to be ready for it."
"We reviewed polynomials and how to simplify polynomials, Section 5-1 of his textbook. I told him to practice the equations in his book."
"We made further progress on the student's review sheet for the college algebra exam. We worked through complex graphing and logarithms. She looks to be ready to excel on this upcoming test."
