Whether it is providing unique, hands-on learning experiences through its exhibits and educational programs, conducting new research that sets the standard for zoos across the country, or building innovative solutions for species and habitat conservation in countries around the world, Butterfly Pavilion is leading the way in ensuring invertebrates are protected for the future.

About the class

For most of us, cockroaches are very unwelcome house guests. But these fear-inducing insects are also incredible! Join Butterfly Pavilion for a live look at the fascinating features of cockroaches. We'll explore cockroach anatomy, learn what they eat (and what eats them!), and discover the important role they play in our ecosystem. We'll also get up close and personal with a cockroach visitor!

Meet your instructor, Calais.

Calais Thomas has been educating herself and others about animals for the past eight years. She has worked with animals ranging from elephants to snails and anything in between!
