"We reviewed for the student's midterm, which covers Sections 2.6-4.2. We covered all topics within, including implicit differentiation, logarithmic differentiation, L'Hopital's rule (especially those where taking the natural log of both sides is necessary), differentials, linear approximations, Mean Value Theorem, Intermediate Value Theorem, derivatives of exponential functions and log functions, using a unit circle, and related rate problems."
"We reviewed for the student's upcoming calculus test and went over Newton's 3 laws and force diagrams. For calculus, we talked about the mean value theorem and applied it to several problems. We also found absolute extrema on intervals. He is not having any particular difficulties on anything. He just likes to be very thorough so that he can feel confident about how the information and concepts are organized in his head and about how they are applied."

Extra practice was provided in the form of guided materials to aid in the student's upcoming homework assignment."
"We reviewed improper integrals for a few minutes, then spent the bulk of the session on partial fraction decompositions. The student was eager to learn, but somewhat troubled by having to work with an unfamiliar instructor in his class. I emphasized the importance of algebraic techniques in resolving partial fractions. We also reviewed tricks for undoing the chain rule when performing certain antiderivatives. He wants to practice more later in the week."
