Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Progress on logic games. Generally did well on Logical Reasoning. Does well on Reading. Said my letter was helpful, got him on track. Will meet again Sunday and maybe during the week."
"We reviewed acid-base physiology, the nephron's control of sodium, and the hormones that affect reabsorption. We did acid-based physiology questions together, and then I sent her questions to help her assess her studying."
"We went over some SSAT upper-level reading passages. We worked on main ideas and vocabulary words and how to identify what they mean by using context clues from the text. We will work more on poetry next time, as that is the student's weakness. I suggested using the strategies of going back in the text and underlining."
"In this session, we worked mainly on vocabulary exploring synonyms and antonyms. He had to rewrite sentences using the opposite meaning. We worked on building some vocabulary and writing down sentences. At the end of the session, he had to describe a picture using the adjectives he had already studied on this session. He was focused for most of the session, it is hard to recap the information already learned from last year."
"The student was working on addition in home school. We did our lesson with 2-digit numbers, but we slowed down the process and worked with one placement at a time until the student was comfortable. I follow Mom's lead as to which way to help the student. It is a pleasure to work with her. I will include fun ways for the student to learn math."
"We continued working on the reading of "Lejos de Casa". The student is doing very well at understanding what I say, and is learning some of the idioms used in the text. He still mixes up ser and estar as well as de and para. He needs to be more careful when speaking to keep these terms straight in his head. We'll keep working on it."
