Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed the interest formulas, both continuously compounding interest formula that uses "e" and the simple interest formula. We also reviewed graphs of logarithmic functions and the half-life formula, reviewing both the formula and applying it to a problem. After reviewing the material, the student felt more comfortable using the equations and setting up the problems."
"This is the first meeting between the student and I. The session went well. She has pretty good algebra skills but was not making sense out of some of the trigonometry concepts and the session helped make sense of them. We will meet again next Thursday."
"The student came into the session needing help on reducing factors using partial fractions. We went over his homework assignment and he feels much stronger about it. We scheduled another time to meet over this week to review for his test on Thursday."
"We continued to prepare for the student's exam. We practiced finding the exact value of trigonometric expressions. The student is proficient in the trig aspect of these problems, but he has difficulty with the arithmetic simplification that follows. I plan to focus next session on practicing this."
"The student and I worked on writing equations and graphing tangent lines to parabolas. Once we worked a few examples, he showed a very strong understanding of the process. In addition, he has very strong algebraic skills."
"Today, the student and I went over her homework assignment due in class tomorrow. The assignment revolved around solving equations for exponential growth and decay. Where at the beginning she was very uncertain about what to do, by the end, she was confidently solving the problems. It was great progress from our first session! After going over several examples together, I could tell that she fully understood what she was doing. I was very happy to see this, and look forward to similar progress in the future."
