Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over the exercises in his workbook for chapter 7B. We practiced, vocabulary, conjugating verbs in present tense and in command form. His attitude toward the material was great; he was engaged, knowledgeable, and eager to learn. Since we focused on the material on which he will be tested on tomorrow's test, I shared a few studying techniques and test-taking strategies."
"The student completed two online assignments as I clarified grammar for him - he got A's on both. Then he read a story and answered questions in preparation for a quiz. I worked through it with him, helping with unfamiliar vocabulary and comprehension."
"We prepared for the student's unit test by reviewing vocabulary, formal commands in the singular and plural forms, and the use of reflexive verbs in the formal command form. He will continue to practice and review these concepts on his own."
"Today we reviewed and worked on various examples and exercises relating to command verbs. I showed the student the acronyms SIDES and DPSTV to help remember which verbs were irregular in either the Ud/Uds form and Tu form. She indicated that this technique was very helpful to help her remember."
"The student has a Spanish test coming up on Tuesday, so I helped prepare her for the test by reviewing topics she suggested. We went over problems for adverbial clauses with subjunctive; pero, sino and sino que; and the "to become" verbs. I'm going to provide her with some extra homework problems to practice as well."
"At the beginning of our session, we discussed the tremendous success that the student achieved from his extra credit project that we worked on. His success was phenomenal, and by scoring an A on the project, he was able to raise his class grade. This has given him more confidence and greater and earned self-esteem vis-a-vis his Spanish progress. For the major part of this session, we then worked on his homework assignment for this week, consisting of some vocabulary enrichment, as well as practice using various forms of the preterite. He's making great progress, and for the upcoming weeks we are going to focus on the creation of several hundred note/flash cards, focusing on the minute details from his text, with an emphasis on verb conjugation and grammar."
