I created a second storybook for this tutoring session. The storybook describes a little adventure and incorporates vocabulary from the student's workbook. We read the story and he competed the missing information orally, while I added the words to the storybook. The student and his mother have been reading these personal storybooks between tutoring sessions. Using flashcards, I introduced twenty new vocabulary words: common farm animals and some articles of clothing, some of which I discovered he already knew. For a break, we looked at pictures of some of the more famous castles of the Loire Valley in France, talking about each castle. We also read part of a French children's' book. He and his mother have a small collection of them. Before ending the session, we reviewed the new vocabulary words again.

We worked on the time, the calendar, and numbers up to a billion. The student had prepared and the session flowed easily even though the difficulty increased. At the end we started on the "passe compose." We will work on more past participles next week and try to write different short stories in French in the past.

The student's pronunciation is definitely improving. We worked on translating, and I also helped him with his current vocabulary exercises. I recommended additional online resources that the student can use on his own time before ending the session.

The student has a good basis of Spanish already; we are reawakening it and making her more fluent. Today we worked on -ar (present tense) verbs and the pronouns that match them, and on estar. We also worked on vocabulary, including questioning words and the word "hay." We developed a strategy for her to study between meetings, and set up another meeting.

Today, the student and I reviewed for his Spanish test. I created online flashcards for him, which turned out a great form of review. I had the word in English on one side, and the work in Spanish on the other side. I divided the words into 4 different categories. I would have him study the words and play the matching games. Once I saw he mastered them, I would have him take the test. He rocked all 4 tests!

Today, the student and I met for the first time. We went over all of the materials she has covered so far in her Spanish 1 class. I introduced her to the present tense conjugations of -ar and -er/-ir endings. We made flashcards and did various drilling exercises in order to cement the conjugations in her head. Then we went over personal pronouns and how they match with their conjugations. Lastly, I assigned 6 new verbs for her to memorize by next Sunday. She is a very fast and eager learner. I am excited to work with her.
