Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the math section of a practice assessment that the student took. This included strategies for how to approach problems."
"We emphasized the math section because she is not taking a math class this semester in school, so she needs to go over some math concepts. We also worked on strategies for essay writing."
"The student did extremely well on her reading comprehension and some math problems. We reviewed more math, discussed a bit of writing, and discussed personal statements for college."
"We reviewed homework; the student is showing more work on reading comprehension, but not demonstrating use of the elimination strategy for multiple choice questions. We are still practicing to embed those strategies in him. For math, we reviewed two-step equations. He has shown mastery of one-step equations, but struggles and seems to almost shut down when faced with two-step equations. We reviewed a video that seemed to help him (using a scale analogy), then did some practice questions together. Math will continue to focus on algebra, and we will move to geometry in the next two weeks."
"We reviewed math homework the student was assigned. He did very well and his errors were generally very simple and fixable. He is very communicative about his confusion. I gave him some verbal/reading practice, which we will review tomorrow."
"We reviewed more of the Upper Level SSAT, particularly the more frustrating features, like the Quant section. We also reviewed the Upper Level ISEE, which is very similar to the SSAT. I assigned writing. For the ISEE Upper Level, the student should take practice tests for the Math, Quantitative, Verbal, and Reading sections."
