Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"It was a great session. The student is very smart and picks up very quickly. We reviewed how to conjugate the "passe compose" (past tense) and did some exercises. She will be writing a letter for her exam tomorrow so we also wrote a sample letter using the "passe compose" for her to practice. She mastered it very well."
"The student's pronunciation keeps improving and his mistakes are more consistent (and therefore easier to explain and fix). He cooperates easily during our activities and completes the tasks I assign. He is memorizing more and more vocabulary; I might even give him a fake vocabulary quiz for fun next week."
"We studied media-related vocabulary that the student was assigned. He did a homework assignment based on the vocabulary. By the end of the hour, he was able to use the new words to describe in conversation his opinions on different media-related topics."
"In this session, we added possible answer material to some of the questions with which we have been dealing. Then, we moved on to motivation letter writing."
"We finished with the review packet given by student's instructor. We reviewed the verb "aller." We also prepared for the oral exam, worked on diction and key words to focus on. We worked on prepositions and vocabulary. The exam is scheduled for today, and we reviewed for 5 hrs. in less than 7 days. I believe we prepared intensively. I hope that the student will score well on his test. He was feeling very positive about the exam."
"The student and I dedicated our lesson to conversation. Through this, we discovered when the more complex grammatical structures of French become necessary in a conversation and what colloquialisms can be used as shortcuts to describe what we mean. I intend to allow our lessons to be a bit more long-form, both in speech and in writing, for a little while now. Also, the student has to read a small article in Le Monde for next week, the purpose being to see how French thought is structured in well-thought-out writing."
