Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student continues to show improvement and understanding of balancing chemical equations, differentiating between types of reactions, and solubility rules."
"The student and I worked through some examples of the topics we started discussing during our last session. We worked through solving higher order polynomial functions and identifying the factors by either long division or synthetic division. These are all approaches that the student has done before, but has not seen in a long time. This refresher is helping her work through the small issues, but she is moving smoothly and progressing effortlessly."
"We went over vectors. We managed to make it through most of the assignment. There was a river problem which we had difficulty with, but otherwise, it was a productive session."
"The student had a couple of worksheets to work on. The first one was drawing graphs given a set domain and range. He tried each one and I checked his work. He got two of them correct and the other two had one mistake each. Then he had a worksheet covering composite functions. Most students have trouble with the notation on these problems but he picked it up right away. He was able to do all of them himself, whether the domain was a number or just "x"."
"The student sent a draft assignment. I copied the instructions for MS word APA style auto bibliography function for her. We went over APA style and critiqued her bibliography. I gave resources on computerized, university-based journal searches for lit review. We also discussed narrowing her topic and stating the research problem, why it's important, etc. as described in the rubric. She identified which present references related to her content analysis and which did not. We discussed limiting the study data for her 10-page paper limit. She will rewrite her intro and look for more literature for next session."
"Worked with the student to complete her math packet. This included problems working with decimals and fractions. She was able to convert decimals to fractions. We also worked on her X 6 facts and she is getting quicker. She still needs to practice them out of sequence. She did a great job this evening."
