Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We had some homework to work over relating to linear and non-linear graphs and tables. We were able to identify the main rules and patterns to determine when a table or even an equation might be linear and when it wasn't. I created a set of multiplication flash cards for the student that used different numbers/combinations. Overall, the progress is starting to really take hold. Today was the start of the student's personalized regimen, with several specific short-to-mid-term goals that will be easily measured."
"We started reviewing word problems. We learned the clue words that help to decide the operation(s) in a word problem. We practiced word problems. The student was doing great so we moved to expressions."
"The student completed her homework assignment on translating algebraic expressions and equations, then I assisted her with an assignment on atomic structures."
"Today we focused on preparing for the student's test on Tuesday. We reviewed his study of angles, transformations, and parallel lines cut with a transversal. We learned a method for rotation around a point. We reviewed his flash cards (and added one!) which proved successful in helping him memorize important formulas and definitions. We also discussed test-taking strategies. Good luck on your test!"
"We continued the student's test prep, this time working with the student's homework and review book. He has improved a lot on the concept of common multiples, addition and subtraction with fractions, and we covered addition and subtraction with mixed numbers. We will work on word problems more to solidify fractions as concrete rather than abstract concepts. We then worked on geometry for a change of pace and he did well with triangle types and areas."
"The student has a test on Friday in his College Algebra class. This session was dedicated to studying for this test. Most of the review we did was over graphs and polynomials."
