"The student and I covered deriving the formulas for area and circumference of a circle and went through some practice problems involving those formulas. We also spent a good amount of time talking about the concept of arc length, what it is qualitatively, and then we began to use the formulas involved with both arc length and area sections of circles to solve problems."
"Today we worked a little more on sectors and introduced inscribed angle concepts. The student did well with this and was able to identify inscribed angles and compare them to central angles. We worked some proofs related to the inscribed angle theorems. We also talked about tangent-tangent, secant-secant, and secant-tangent relationships where they cross inside, outside, or tangent to the circle."
"We began our work on circles today, starting from the beginning. I proved for her perpendicular tangents and inscribed angle value, as well as broke the circles down into familiar shapes like triangles. Differentiating between arc length in m and arc length in degrees was also a big focus, understanding that the degree measure of an arc is the degree measure of the angle associated with the arc. The student has a quiz tomorrow on this material, and we will see how she does. She seems much more comfortable with the material and much less nervous about the quiz."
"We reviewed the student's homework covering rational functions. We were working on adding and subtracting rational expressions. We walked through the steps on the first few problems, and then let him do some on his own. By the end of the session, he was feeling confident about the process."
"We reviewed for the test. This included working on areas of polygons: triangles, trapezoids, rhombi, kites. We also talked about composite shapes and adding areas together. We worked on scale factors and a few word problems."
"The student and I finished reviewing for his test on circles tonight, going back over previous concepts as well as covering similarity transformations, radians, arc length, and sector area. He did very well with the past material and similarity transformations."
