"She read three different books that are from level 1. She is much more fluent each time. I encouraged her and her family to continue on a daily basis. Her spelling list is focused on long u vowel sounds. I feel she is capable of improving her spelling. She is doing very well on the sight word flashcards and next week we will add an additional 15 to her list."
"The student and I read a book about mummies. We practiced slowing down and sounding out words, and paying attention to what we're reading. We also practiced writing about the book."
"We began the session by completing a sight word game with fill in the blanks. Then we read a short story with rhyming words. He then played sight word bingo and word fling. Then we read a new benchmark book to move up a level. Then we read simple sentences to work on fluency. We concluded session by reading a book that was sent home from school."
"The student needed assistance writing an introductory letter. Her goal was to use the letter to request shadowing a specific doctor on staff. This first-hand experience will increase the number of clinical background hours needed for her pre-med program. She and I will discuss the letter later tonight after she has reviewed it for changes."
"The student needed help with a few edits to his history paper. His TA gave some comments and suggested changes. We went through the paper twice. The first time, we looked at the TA's comments and addressed each one, mostly simply rewriting sentences to better express his ideas. Sometimes, we found citations for claims. The second reading was a quick read for typos before submission."
"The student needed help with constructing an email to one of his professors for math. He wanted to ask his professor if he could take a makeup exam for his math class. He hopes his professor will allow him to take the exam."
