Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today's session with the student was slow but extremely productive. All in all, we reviewed 3 homework problems from basically the fundamentals. My goal was to get her to understand the material from the fundamentals, given that she has forgotten some of them. In particular, we reviewed projectile motion problems that required additional steps and connections besides the usual equations of range flight time and max height."
"Today's topics were mostly those covered before (force and pressure). These concepts were applied with water and in hydraulic presses."
"We covered the anatomy and categorization of waves, focusing on differentiating transverse and longitudinal waves and identifying/calculating amplitude, frequency, wavelength, and period."
"I worked with the student on gravitation and orbits, calculating the speed of an orbit, and the orbital period of a planet. I worked with student two briefly on a problem covering the relationship between work and power."
"I've been focusing mainly on concept and the beginning stages of problem solving. The student has been getting better at remembering her units and setting up problems. I noticed she has a tendency to try to solve problems in her head, if not pushed to write them down, so I've started working with her on showing all work during problem solving."
"In this session, the student and I covered basic concepts of forces, Newton's three laws governing motion, and reviewed for his upcoming exam. He seemed to struggle with understanding the flow of energy within a physical system, but had a great attitude toward learning the material. He also seemed to learn quite quickly because we practiced questions regarding his exam and he seemed to have a thorough understanding. After dissecting all the material on his upcoming test and the formulas provided to him, he has the homework of doing his practice exam again, practicing key homework problems, and to review his notes. I think he'll do great."
