Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session was devoted to reviewing the last two tests. He just had minor issues in each section. On the whole, he seems to be well placed for his test and has made great progress."
"Today, the student and I discussed her reasons for taking the GRE and her goals for the test. We also discussed her general strengths and weaknesses related to academics and standardized tests. We went over the basic structure of the test, including the types of questions that are in each section. We began briefly touching up test taking strategies for each section. She expressed that she believes that mathematics will be an area of strength, while she may struggle more with the verbal and writing section, especially vocabulary and formulating essay ideas. She expressed that she is excited to get started and seemed eager to work hard. She will complete one full length practice test before our next session, so that we can get a baseline score and assess which areas we need to focus on most."
" We concentrated on sentence equivalence/increasing vocabulary and the reading section. We are working with vocabulary, though she tends to understand the logic of sentence equivalence when she knows the words. In reading, she is learning how the test wants her to analyze arguments. I taught her a bit more about argument construction and attempted to encourage her not to second-guess herself with vocabulary. She's definitely eager to learn, and I left her with finishing up the questions for our final passage, which was the most difficult of the night. She's improving!"
