This session, he started week 3 work. The main topic was systems of linear inequalities. This included solving inequalities with quadratic functions and using inequalities to maximize functions. We reviewed graphing of inequalities as well. He has little difficulty with simplifying or solving systems of equations. We also discussed, how to effectively use his graphing calculator to aid in visualizing the inequalities.

The students test tomorrow is on exponents and logs. She understands just enough of the concepts to get confused when the information is presented in a challenging way. I spent today emphasizing the relationship between the different laws of exponents and showing how they are similar so when a problem comes up she can hopefully see the many different things that might be possible to do with it. We spend most of our time expanding and solving logs and exponents.

Yesterday I prepared the student for her upcoming exam. We went over graphing trigonometric functions including transformation of these functions. We also reviewed her earlier sections that included converting radians to degrees and vice versa. I informed her that she needs to also do more problems from each section in the book and call me if she has any questions before the exam. She was much more prepared this time and picked up on things rather quickly.

We worked on the student's homework questions in preparation for his test for Chapter 2. We spent time looking at a specific question that the student was struggling with. In an attempt to review the material and solve the question the student and I discussed the material in the chapter to see if we could apply any of the topics to the question. We also reviewed relevant equations and mathematical terms.

Today's session with the student went really well. We continued working on trigonometry, well ahead of his class. We focused on polynomial types and then talked about sequences and series. In his math class he is doing very well, but it is all still review.

The student and I worked on her new chapter, which was the intro to trig and transition from geometry. She did really well with the new topics. She had to think about the concepts in depth; I think they will come to her much more easily down the line!
