Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I continued our work on her speech, which she could be required to present as soon as Friday. I proofread the speech, offered suggestions, and then I timed her reading it aloud. We ended having to cut the speech down from 11 minutes to under 7, which we did we three rounds of revision/ reading aloud."
"The student and I reviewed his paragraphs. He needs to do a better job proofreading and avoiding redundancy, but we talked about how to fix that problem. He read the afterword to Anne Frank aloud. I assigned additional paragraphs and the remainder of Anne Frank. Wednesday is our last session."
"Very good first session. We discussed future topics that we will be reviewing based on his school schedule. And also, worked on some reading comprehension."
"The student and I covered adding and subtracting , even and odd numbers , and the student said the alphabet and a word for each letter two times. He both counted to 100 and counted by 10's to 100 . He is a sweetheart, so polite, and reserved, but also full of willingness to learn and try new things. Sessions with him will be a breeze!"
"We focused on the grammar rules of capitalization. We worked in reading strategies - connections and predictions. We did a visualization activity with sensory words and read a short story utilizing visualization. Finally, I gave the student a suggested reading list."
"The student worked on vowel sounds to review the difference between short and long sounds. He completed several worksheets and then read a story to practice reading fluency."
