Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We corrected the student's most recent practice test (cumulative score of 31) and focused mainly on math. Excellent job!!"
"The student and I reviewed the science sections from two of her previous ACT's. Then, we began looking at another science section and working through the problems together. I emphasized time-saving strategies and techniques that could be beneficial during the science test."
"The student and I went through a few practice sections today. I had her actually show her work on most questions because she is inclined to do everything in her head, but sometimes she makes minor errors that way, or she gets lost in all the numbers. I have suggested to her that writing things down should help her out a bit on the exam."
"We covered the probability formula in a number of different formats. The student needed help in the beginning with larger data sets and different representations of data, but was completely understanding by the end. She says that she did well on her previous two assignments. A big win was that she seems to understand the probability formula perfectly and did a really great job."
"I provided the student with a general overview of the ACT, and then we looked at a practice English and math test she did. I reviewed a few concepts and introduced her to several strategies for both subjects. She did really well, especially in English, and is on track to score very high with more practice and sessions. She will complete a timed English and math test for next time."
"In today's session, the student reviewed long and short vowel words and words with 'aw' and 'ew.' He did well on these and we will keep reviewing different sounds of digraphs and diphthongs. He read 2nd grade and 3rd grade fluency passages and did well. I had him read each passage twice to go over the multi-syllable words he sounded out. He then did all X problems - 0 through 5 - by himself - with 100% accuracy! Good for him!"
