Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session we covered defining functions and m-files, variables and data types, and various commands. The student had a great attitude about reviewing necessary concepts to complete his project. I left him with directions and ideas to turn our beginning of his project into a completed solution."
"The student and I covered some more details with loops and if-else, including break, continue, and pass statements, as well as the while-loop. We then proceeded to build a function that generates the Fibonacci sequence using multiple assignment and a while loop. We left him with the tools to generate some new functions, and planned to meet again the following day so that we could work through some more details of the language as we continue to build more complex tools for computation."
"The student and I continued to go through his code and find bugs. We were finally made aware of another bug that may be creating the problem in his code that we couldn't figure out. There is a variable in his code that is set to the wrong value at some point and should be reset to the right value. We have identified the problem and will continue to work on it next week."
"The student and I went over her project again. We both worked on de-bugging her code and getting it working for her project. We will continue to de-bug her code to get her up to par and will fix it up as needed."
"This session was devoted to helping the student with her testing code for the current assignment. We worked on random generation of matrices for string output size testing as well as the details for the experiment portion of her assignment. She clearly knows what she is doing and understood the work very well."
"The student already had a solid understanding of Graph data structures, so we spent our session mostly discussing her project related to Graphs. She said she benefits from talking about her projects with a tutor while figuring out how to solve problems for herself, so we stepped through her assignment and talked about her implementation."
