Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was a productive session, and we spent the entire time working on a set of approximately 4 very difficult acid / base titration problems. The problems were about as hard as any AP level acid / base problems get, and the student worked through them well. He has a problem set that we will spend time working through on Wednesday."
"We started the session by going over a test which the student had just gotten back. We walked through the questions he got incorrect. He does a good job of memorizing the equations and can state them when asked but he sometimes forgets which to apply to a given situation. To improve on this we began working on testing strategies. The first is to start by listing all relevant information given. Then once that list is written, to write all equations that deal with the given variables. By doing this he will hopefully be able to see what equations are available to him in order to solve the question presented. After going through the test questions, we practiced the new strategies with some AP questions."
"The student and I had our first session today, so we first took a look at her syllabus and formed a game plan for the rest of our sessions. We uploaded her slides and went through each slide together, discussing concepts that were confusing or ambiguous. The session was great. We are meeting again on Thursday to pick up where we left off."
"Today the student and I reviewed Chapter 4 concepts like vocabulary, structures, and functions. We also went over her homework assignment. She has a mastering biology assignment due Monday and we worked on completing all 25 sections and submitting the assignment. The final score for the assignment was about a 97.8%."
"Tonight we reviewed the homework I assigned the student on osmosis and types of transport and endo/ exocytosis. She did a great job with the homework. After the homework, we moved into some more practice, and wrapped up the material on the cell. She is doing excellent, and we will be moving into new material next session."
"We completed assignments the student's teacher had given her. The chapters we went over were on evolution, genetics, the cell and its compartments, and bacterial and viral infections. We also covered photosynthesis, fermentation, and cellular respiration. We also went through lab assignments about DNA replication and classifying plants."
