Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed her test over extremes, applications of differentiation, and optimization as well as the new material of related rates. She picked up on related rates well considering some of the previous difficulties with applications of differentiation. Her differentiation skills are improved and she does well with deriving formulas to be used for multiple types of related rates problems. We discussed also heat from her physics course. She understood potential and kinetic energy with no difficulty."
"This was my first meeting with the student. He didn't do well on his last test and wanted help with calculus. His next test/quiz is going to be over the fundamental theorem of calculus so we practiced some problems for that."
"It seems that our sessions are drastically improving the student's grades and understanding of calculus. Today we just reviewed previous information for her exam on Monday, and her progress is VERY apparent."
"Reviewed product rule and quotient rule. Worked on Chain rule, standard differentials for ln and e and logarithmic differentiation. Worked on trig differentials for sin, cos, tan, sec, csc, cot, sin-1, cos-1 and tan-1."
"Today, the student and I worked on the first half of his review packet for an upcoming test. We started by going over the problems he felt he knew well, making sure he knew how to come to the right answers again in the future. Then, we started briefly on problems he didn't get done. He is catching on very quickly when we slow down and take everything step-by-step, and it's very encouraging to see."
"Today, the student and I discussed Hess' law as well as rules of logs. We are going to develop a study guide for him. We will do some more review on the basic log rules before his test on Tuesday. He is also going to study Hess' law before we meet on Tuesday night."
