Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I studied the other verb tenses for her exam Friday. She just needed a refresher for some of these. Passe compose and imparfait are going to be the main ones she needs to study. She's good on future and conditional. Relative pronouns also need a little work. Order of pronouns, once reviewed, was good. She also is still strong on creating indirect and direct object pronouns. We will be meeting one last time to go over a few things before her exam."
"Today the student and I worked on the final review worksheet I assigned last week. Specifically, one exercises was to turn a passage in the present tense into the past tense which meant re-conjugating all the verbs into the correct tenses, a good review for the passe compose, imparfait and plus-que-parfait. We also worked on possible discussion topics for the spoken portion of the test and created some possible responses using vocabulary from the 7 chapters he covered this semester. Lastly, we did a quick review of the demonstratives. Next we'll be doing more vocabulary review. Saturday we'll be running another practice final to see how he's progressing."
"We spent the session working on the subjunctive, including discussing the necessary conditions for its use, and practicing conjugations on their own (primarily of irregular verbs, but also some of the regular ones) and in context."
"We worked on a project. We went over the work sentence by sentence by restructuring them and adding more object to the sentences. The student was ready to learn and showed interest in what she was doing. She completed the project and she was satisfied with the session. I left her with a few names of French singers who will help her familiarize herself even more with the foreign language."
"We discussed the structure of the student's course, the big assignments she has to complete, and started working on the grammar concepts she needs help with, especially interrogatives and the imperfect/ composed past tenses. She had a positive attitude; she was focused and was aware of some of her own areas for improvement, as well as the amount of work that she has before her. I left her with the assignment of completing several exercises on the imperfect and composed past tenses from her class. I also recommended that she download the language app to her phone so she can get extra practice on these subjects."
"I reviewed the 3 assignments I gave the student from our first lesson. She is still a little confused sometimes between etre and avoir; she sometimes mixes them. We will continue to work on this. She did remember the new vocabulary (days of the week, and new adverbs of time and adjectives) beautifully. We took a series of 3 tests on the school website."
