Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had some math work that involved "shopping" online, and purchasing 10 things that added up to $500. They are reviewing addition of decimals, and estimation using decimals. He did well on this. We also worked on some mental math: multiplying and dividing when several zeroes are present, and multiplying and dividing decimals by ignoring the decimals at first, and then placing the decimal point in the most "reasonable" location. This was difficult for him, so I will review it next time. We played another game, a number sense/mental computation game. He is a pleasure to work with!"
"The student requested help with her Math homework, so we discussed order of operations and long division."
"Went through online practice exercises. Completed 5 xy Algebra exercises. Worked on a PowerPoint presentation. Good session, we got a lot accomplished!"
"We did more work with partial derivatives. This time it was finding critical points - maximums, minimums, and saddle points - using double partial derivative methods. The student did a very good job with this material. He really understands the concepts."
"Today we spent the whole session focusing on triangles. We started with some more simple concepts like finding the missing angles when 2 were given. We then threw in some variables. We also practiced finding interior and exterior angles and some more complex triangles with equations for 2 angles. She did really well over all and says she enjoys the triangles."
"The student is going over logarithms and natural logs in her Algebra 2 class right now. She has a solid grasp on the material at the moment. We worked ahead a little bit, but she demonstrated that she understood the material clearly."
