Tonight, we did a lot of reading. The student was already reading a Sesame Street book when I arrived, so we finished that book. We practiced the oi, oy, aw, au sounds. We will continue to read and blend sounds. I think she just needs more quantity of reading, so she can get more comfortable and confident.

We worked on several newer essays of varying lengths. I recommended that the student spend time learning about specific courses, professors or organizations that interest him in different schools for the "Why this school?" essays. We worked on making his writing more concise, both to meet the word count and to improve the quality of writing, especially in his three essays for the direct med program. I also encouraged him to cut words and make his writing more direct by avoiding beginning sentences with "It is," "There are," etc. For a few essays, we made major changes to the order and organization of the essay.
