Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This week we set up a craigslist listing for the student and taught her how to text on her phone and add contacts. We also reviewed pages and how to conduct basic Google searches. I also downloaded some apps for her to use her iPencil, which we determined she should fully charge for our next session so that we can work with using that."
"Computer skills - Business Administration: Composing emails with high/low priority - flagging. Organizing inbox to folders. WIFI & provider bundles - Q&A. Excel: Began to practice mock spreadsheets - format, edit, and cells."
"During this session, I continued to help the student understand the principles of Publisher and publisher-like programs, which he is slowly starting to understand, and which reinforces the fundamentals of text programs. I also showed him how to force-quit applications when his computer stalls. He has to use an alternate method of force-quitting programs, as he has a Mac."
"I had another great session with the students. We worked on technique for throw-ins, heading the ball, juggling, shooting accuracy, and trick moves to beat defenders. I've been really emphasizing that they need to practice kicking with their left feet, and they are reluctant to do so. I will keep on running drills and including rules that force them to use their left feet, as it is incredibly important to be versatile with both feet. Their homework is to work on juggling and trying to get to 20."
"The student and I covered Find My iPhone, wifi, screen orientation, deleting an app, contacts, contact-specific ringtones, camera, history, data usage, airdrop, airplane mode, bluetooth, do not disturb, iCloud, and photo filters. He did not seem to struggle with any concept, and he took notes as I explained each concept. He was very attentive and asked important and relevant questions. My main strategy used for this session was presentation of how to do something. This was a hands-on learning experience for him."
"We covered a system ID example in Matlab. The student was ready to learn. We are going to look into cascaded, feed-forward, RGA, and variable effects. I made a list of the steps we used today to do system ID and emailed them to the student."
