Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the majority of the student's exam, discussing errors and flaws in reasoning with answering questions. Additionally we worked through nearly every problem, often having him explain to me how to do it."
"We went over math with negative and positive numbers, including simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We also did many problems fractions, mostly with mixed numbers and improper fractions. The student is getting much better at her multiplication and division, and she is understanding the concepts better. We also went over some test-taking strategies with her."
"Reviewed previous test questions that the student got wrong. He scored an 86% and will need to increase the level of practice and confidence before he can expect an increase in his scores. In addition, we completed questions from an online prep site as well."
"This was the first session with the student so we are trying to identify his strengths and weaknesses for math. In addition, I am trying to determine the way that he learns best. For the rest of the session, we reviewed his notes on graphing equations focusing specifically on if the two lines intersect. The session focuses on how you can graph the lines or solve the equations mathematically. He did very well at solving the equations but he struggles with graphing the lines correctly. In addition, I needed to remind him to check the point of intersection to ensure the coordinate pair was a solution for both equations. For the next session, I would like to review his notes as well as his homework. If I can be emailed the topic for the next week, I will bring extra problems for him to complete."
"The student and her mom had met with her teacher since our last session. She received a B on her most recent quiz instead of an A due to leaving little details out of her answers. She does know the material. Today, we continued to review statistics for her test next week. She really does have a good handle on this material, and she now understands her teacher's expectations. She should do well on the test."
"The student has a test this week so we mainly focused on her review sheets from school. We worked on finding a slope of perpendicular lines and parallel lines using certain given equations and a coordinate point. We also spent a good amount of time going over word problems requiring her to come up with an equation given certain condition. She will finish the rest of the work and email me with any questions before the test."
