"Today we used the properties of trapezoids and kites to calculate unknown quantities within those polygons. The student did an excellent job solving the problems we went over on her own. I primarily helped with minor strategies and double-checked her solutions. I am impressed by her skill in this area, and am pleased that she has retained most of the skills we went over regarding triangles and is able to use them effectively."
"Today we went over the student's study guide for his first semester final. The subject matter included probability and linear equations. He had been absent from school for a time, so he needed some review of a lot of these concepts that he had learned before. By the end, he was feeling more confident, but we agreed to go more in-depth next weekend in preparation for his actual final exam."
"Today we went over triangles, angles, and proofs. The student did well, and was positive towards the material that was reviewed. I gave him a few tips on understanding triangles, and how to prove and derive their congruence. I left him with the rest of his test review. He is doing well overall. He should not have any problem passing his upcoming test. We will review once more next week, before he takes his test on Tuesday."
"Today we were practicing sections 6.4 and 6.5. We determined unknown variables x and y, then determined a side of the triangle. We used the definition of median in a triangle to set up an equation, then solved a quadratic equation by factoring and product zeros theorem. Also, we determine value of x using the similar triangle. We solved the proportions by cross multiplying. We also solved applied problems. Finally, we did one proof problem, which we solve by writing a two-column proof."
"Today we worked on a worksheet packet that the student's chemistry teacher assigned. We covered naming chemical compounds, writing the formulas of compounds based on their names, and balance chemical reaction equations. The most challenging concept for her was naming the chemical compounds. There are a lot of rules and several details to remember, so it is generally a challenging topic. She did well writing the chemical formula, and got much more confident in that topic as we went through the worksheet. She did well balancing the chemical equations. Sometimes she needed me to help her by giving her a hint, but she was consistently able to correctly balance the reactions."
"Today we worked on the Pythagorean Theorem and worked through homework problems. I gave background content on the topic and gave additional questions when necessary. I gave the student opportunities to work through a problem on his own once we'd gone through a couple examples together."
