The student and I continue to work through the arguments portion of the exam. Nevertheless, I want to ensure that he doesn't stop working through the other sections, especially the logic games. As such, we ran through practice sets for both arguments and logic games. Not surprisingly, given the student's past performance, he performed perfectly on the logic games section, missing none of the practice problems and correctly identifying all of the hidden rules as he should. The arguments section also when very well, with the student only missing 4 of 25. If we can pull that up to be no more than 2 missed per section, given the student's other score trends, he's a shoe-in for a 170+.

This session the student and I continued to work on diagramming rules for Linear games. We went over more conditionality and how to link conditional rules to other conditionals. We then went through the four specific question types (must be true, cannot be true, not necessarily true and could be true) - how to recognize them, how to identify exactly what the wrongs answers will be and what the correct answer will be. We then went through some methods on how to attack the question types - to go through the rules to eliminate answers on list questions, to create a question-specific diagram next to local questions, and to create hypotheticals when needed. We finished with a drill on diagramming.

The student took a full practice test and got 21 correct between the two arguments sections, 10 correct on reading comprehension, and 6 correct on logic games. We worked through two logic games, discussed a test day strategy, and evaluated some of her key weaknesses. She needs to work on methodically evaluating questions instead of guessing, not being intimidated by questions, and trusting the setups she creates for logic games. For test day, she is going to try to complete one logic game in full, complete the rule violations on the others, and guess on the remainder (hopefully including a few educated guesses). We are hoping for a score in the range of 12 correct answers and I believe this strategy will maximize her score on this section. For arguments, she will guess on 5-10 questions, including the longest ones. For reading comprehension, she will complete 1-2 passages and guess on the remainder.
